Sherrell is a retired teacher of Spanish and Technology Applications with a BS Ed. degree from the University of Texas at Austin and an M. A. degree in Spanish Literature from Texas Tech University.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. . Sherrell has taught and worked in California, Colorado, New Mexico and Texas.

Presently, he and his artist wife, Theda Rhea, share a studio in Coleman, Texas
